Pros

• Instead of meeting people one by one at bars, clubs, church and through friends, you can browse through dozens of online profiles in no time. You can sift through the Mr./Mrs. Wrongs and get right to Mr./Mrs. Right.
  
• Another good thing about online dating is that you don’t have to talk to each person to see what they’re all about. Everyone has a profile that lists their interests so it’s easy to see who you’re compatible with.
• If you have a busy schedule and only have a few minutes per day to devote to your dating life, online dating is perfect for you. After you come home from a long day of work you can browse profiles online and pick who you talk to and when you talk to them. You can reply to your emails on your own time.
• With online dating you can easily date multiple people at the same time. There are so many people who are single and looking that it’s easy to set up different dates for every day of the week if you choose to do so.

Cons

• With online dating there is a complete lack of personal interaction. Sometimes you need to see somebody, hear somebody and feel somebody.
• It has been said that online dating is dangerous because you don’t know the person who you are meeting. For this reason you should only meet people in public places.
• When you are chatting with someone online you have no idea whether they are being honest with you. For all you know they are making up everything about themselves. It is much easier to lie online than in person.
• When you meet someone online all you have is a picture. Their photo may be bad quality or worse yet be an old photograph where they are 20 pounds lighter and 10 years younger.

Often times when we want to try online dating we concentrate so much on what we can find. So we scour around looking for profies and trying to make contact with fellow dating site members. But if you’re not having any luck getting any good responses, perhaps it’s your dating profile that is to blame. Take some time to create a good profile and you’ll surely have more success with online dating. Here now is a list of the most common mistakes people make when creating their online profile. This applies to both facebook and dating site profiles.

- Bad username. The worst types of usernames are those that say something like babygurl213 or lakers4life69, etc. Instead, go with something significant about yourself or just a standard generic username like JaniceK or Brandon84.

- Bad profile picture. Your picture shouldn’t be a close up shot in high definition of you alone. It’s hard to look good that close up. Choose a shot that shows you further away from the camera. Self shot pictures or pictures of you standing and posing alone aren’t good choices. Instead, choose a picture where you’re with family, pets, friends or doing an activity.

- Too much writing. There’s no need to reveal your life story in an online dating profile. Write just enough information so that someone can see if they’re interested in you. If you write a lot of stuff, what will you ever talk about on your first date? It’s okay if your life is an open book, but don’t give away the ending before they’ve read the book.

So you met someone online and you’ve been emailing each other back and forth. However this online relationship isn’t really going anywhere. What do you do? Best thing would be to either ask him out or better yet just casually mention the fact that you should maybe meet up for a drink or coffee sometime in the near future.
