Blind dates are often times given a bad rap. Yet there is a way to have a successful blind date. Not all blind dates end up in a disasters. Here are some suggestions on how to make a blind date work.

Have an open mind. Think about it, if your friends are setting you up, would they set you up with someone you wouldn’t like? Don’t automatically dismiss a blind date offer. Who knows, they may be Mr./Mrs. Right.

Don’t have high expectations. If you are expecting to meet the person you’re going to be with the rest of your life, lower your expectations. Think of this blind date as a chance to get out of the house and meet somebody new. Nothing more, nothing less.

Before the date. Make some contact with your date beforehand. Just a short phone conversation is enough. You can simply discuss the logistics of your date. Doing this will make you feel less like you are talking with a stranger.

Where to go on your blind date. For a first date you’ll want to meet at a public place, like a coffee shop. You’ll want to meet somewhere for a quick get together. Your first date should not last very long. Here’s the reason for this: If you don’t like each other, it’s very easy to end the date early without hurting anyone’s feelings.

What to wear. Dress in casual attire. Don’t act like you’re trying too hard and get all fixed up. Dress in comfortable clothing so you feel at ease.

If you don’t have a successful first date you can kiss any chance of a second date goodbye. There are some unwritten rules (that shall now be written) on how to behave on a first date. As you both get to know each other better on future dates these rules go out the window and you can be more open with your date. But as far as first dates go, be sure and avoid these costly first date mistakes.

Showing off. If you’re a good catch, they’ll soon figure that out on their own. You don’t need to tell them about all of your past accomplishments. You’ll just appear cocky, arrogant and full of yourself – all negative traits. So yes you can tell them what you do for a living, but don’t tell them how much you make.

Opening up. If your date is genuinely interested in what you have to say and they’re a good listener, don’t get lured into telling them your problems. Remember that your date is not your psychiatrist. Before you know it you may have told them far more than they needed to hear on the first date.

Sex on the first date. Do I hear you boo-ing? Well anyways, rarely is sex on the first date a good idea. You should get to know the person better before diving into a sexual encounter. If you have sex on the first date, what will you do on the second date? If you’re saying “Have sex again” then you’re not building a real relationship then, are you? Try to remember that there is a courtship process so don’t jump in the sack too soon or things may be awkward on the next few dates.

Bashing your ex. Guys tend to stick together and girls tend to stick together too. So if you think that talking bad about your ex is going to score you some points, think again. Your date doesn’t know your ex so don’t even talk about them in the first place.

Being too excited. A first date is a quick outing where the two of you get to know each other. If you have a good time with your date then you schedule a second date. That’s all a first date should be. It’s just step one in the long courtship process. If you like your date don’t get too excited and show them how much you like them. This will just make you appear as needy and clingy.

Complaining. Nobody wants to hear you complain. Everyone has complaints. What is the other person supposed to say about your complaints? It just puts them in an uncomfortable position. Instead, be a positive person with a positive attitude and save the whine for your dinner.

Being indecisive. During a first date there will be many choices. If your date is courteous he/she will ask you what you think or if you have any suggestions. Instead of saying “whatever is fine with me” show that you have some decisiveness and make a choice. It doesn’t matter if you’re right or wrong, just pick something. It will show that you care about the direction of your date.

Everyone has had bad dates at one point of their lives. It is probable that we all will continue to have bad dates every now and then. There seems to be just two options when it comes to bad dates: stay and suffer or just leave. Either one has bad repercussions. This post will discuss the best options on what to do if you’re on a bad date and how to get out of your bad date.

At first you may feel guilty for wanting to escape a bad first date. However we must realize that your time is precious, and theirs is too. Instead of sticking around a few hours with someone who you have no future with, it’s best to end the date early. You wouldn’t want to lead them on either.

The first step to take is to prevent a bad first date in the first place. To do this, go into the date without high expectations. Just think of this date as an opportunity to get out of the house for a while and meet someone new. If you don’t have high hopes then your hopes will not be dashed.

Another thing you can do to prevent a bad first date is to not go on blind dates. Whether we like to admit it or not physical chemistry is a big deal. Unless you know what the other person looks like don’t go on a date at all. If you do, you may already be disappointed with your date before it really starts.

So now let’s discuss how to get out of a bad first date. One of the best ways to get out of a bad date is to make it be as short as possible. You can pre-plan for this by only having short first dates. This way, even the worst dates won’t last so long. Go for a walk at the park, for a drink at the bar or a midday coffee shop outing. If you’re having dinner, don’t order an appetizer or dessert.

So what about just telling them that it’s not working out? While being honest seems like a good idea, honesty may not be the best policy as it pertains to removing yourself from a bad first date. You wouldn’t want feelings to be hurt and this would only convert a bad date into a bad awkward one.

So in closing, leave a bad date by finding ways to shorten your outing. There is a way to leave respectfully. Try and not end the date right away, as that would be rude. At least give the date some time to see if you are compatible. Perhaps you and this person may not be physically attracted to each other yet you hit it off. They could become a future friend of yours if you don’t at least give the date a chance.

Ah yes, you have a first date and then comes the moment that you’ve been waiting for all night long: the first kiss. It can either be magical or completely awkward. A first date is stressful enough, but now you have to worry about the first kiss as well? Should you even have a kiss? Should you use tongue? Will this first kiss be any good? There are so many questions to ponder that you really should be prepared before it’s time for your first kiss. Follow the tips in this post to ensure that you’ll have a good first kiss.

Preparation

The preparation for the first kiss begins long before the actual kiss takes place. Before you leave your home make sure you smell good. When you get close you want to make sure you have a pleasant smell. Moisturize your lips so that your partner won’t be kissing dry chapped lips. Brush your teeth and pop a breath mint as well so you can have good breath for that special moment.

Good timing

The success of a first kiss sometimes comes down to waiting for the right moment. If you go too early you may seem overly aggressive. If you wait too long the moment would have passed. So how do you know if it’s the right time? Well you’ll need to read the signs. This is everything from body language to how the date has progressed. You also need to wait until you’re at the right location. This is usually at the moment you’re about to say goodnight at the front door of their/your house.

The actual kiss

Now that you’ve found the right moment, it’s time to plant that long awaited first date kiss. You may think that it’s good manners to ask your date for a kiss, but nothing could be further from the truth. Kisses are to be stolen, not asked for. If you ask for a first kiss, you will ruin a potentially golden moment. So just lean in slowly and see if they also lean in. If they do, this is going to be a successful first kiss. If they move backward, don’t push it and just back off.

As for the actual kiss, make this first kiss a short and sweet one. Save the tongue and the fondling for a future date. If you give them a nice short kiss you would have guaranteed yourself a second date. If you want to add a little more spice to your first kiss consider touching their face as you plant a gentle kiss on their kiss.

If you follow the first date kiss tips in this blog post you’ll surely have yourself an unforgettable first kiss.

When women first look at a man, they notice his eyes, his hair, his teeth and his shoes. Men on the other hand look at the eyes, the breasts and the curves. So you can see that women, more than men, pay very close attention to detail. Thus on a first date women notice the little things. In order to make a good first impression on your first date, guys should follow these steps.

- Be well groomed. Do your hair, take time to get dressed nicely, shower beforehand, brush your teeth. Women don’t want to be seen with a slob so be sure to look your best. Not doing so is a surefire way of ruining your first date.

- Make eye contact. Don’t let your eyes wander down to her cleavage too much. Some women will be offended if you don’t look at their eyes when talking to them. When you look at a woman’s cleavage they feel like you don’t care about what they have to say, you just care about their chest. On a related note, keep your eyes on your date and don’t go looking at other women either. This is one of the easiest ways to make sure you get the boot.

- Be interesting. Keep the conversation going. Ask her questions. Most women enjoy talking about themselves. If you are dull, boring, or even nervous, this can quickly bring the date to an end. It really doesn’t matter what you talk about, just make sure you keep the flow of conversation going. Memorize some interesting first date questions so you always have a few questions in reserve that you can ask if the conversation dies down.

First dates are always weird and filled with awkward pauses and painfully long moments of silence. While it’s inevitable and is part of any first date, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to avoid these awkward situations. You can avoid these things by having a few questions memorized so you can refer back to these in case the current conversation is dying down. Now don’t just fire off these questions one by one. A conversation should naturally flow. But if you need some extra help, here’s a short list of some conversation starters for the first date.

- Do you have any brothers and sisters? You can follow up with talking about your own siblings.

- Talk about what’s around you. This includes the weather, scenery and decorations. I know it sounds boring, but the point is to keep talking. Talking about anything is better than sitting there staring at each other.

- Inquire about their hobbies. Ask them what they enjoy doing in their spare time. You can check here to see if you have things in common.

- Where are your parents/grandparents from? Here you’ll talk about heritage and different parts of the country. You can then ask where they’ve traveled to and move on from there.

Hope you liked this short list of first date conversation starters. Remember that each of these questions should hopefully spark new conversations. Only move onto the next question once you have completely exhausted the previous topic.
